Walking along the trails of the Cilento, through lush forests and crystal-clear riverbanks, feels like pressing pause on the world.
Everything seems more vivid, brighter — especially during the warmer months. And here, the beautiful season lasts a long time: yet another gift from Mother Nature.
Trekking routes reveal many more of these gifts: ancient trees, rare plants and breathtaking coves.
It’s no coincidence that the Greeks chose these shores to build Paestum, one of the most important cities of Magna Graecia, originally known as Poseidonia.
This is just one of the many wonders found in the Cilento, alongside the Gulf of Policastro, the Cilento National Park, the Castelcivita Caves and, of course, Palinuro.
Baia del Silenzio lies right in the heart of this vast open-air atlas of history and nature. From here, guests can explore these extraordinary landscapes through guided excursions and walks.
This guide is dedicated to trekking lovers, with our recommendations for the most beautiful walks around the resort.
We’re sure we’ll miss a few — the Cilento is simply overflowing with natural riches — but let us guide you through rivers, mountains, historic villages and protected areas with the 7 most scenic trails in the Cilento.
Sentiero Italia
The first route we recommend connects Monte Cervati to Piaggine.
A challenging 10-kilometre mountain trail, it rewards effort with peaceful landscapes and postcard-worthy views. You’ll need energy and determination — but what you’ll see is worth every step.
Percorso Rupazzi
Easier and less demanding than the previous trail, this 2-kilometre path links Tortorella to Casaletto Spartano.
Part of the Cilento National Park, it’s an ancient route where you may spot various animal species. One of its most distinctive features is the view of Casaletto Spartano’s red rooftops.
Sentiero del Rio Casaletto
Perfect for lovers of river landscapes, this walk follows a 2-kilometre stream surrounded by colourful vegetation.
It leads to the magical Cascate dei Capelli di Venere, one of the most enchanting natural sights in the area.
Sentiero Farneto
Starting again from Tortorella, this time heading towards Morigerati, the trail follows an old connecting route.
A fairytale-like 3.5-kilometre path, it offers views over the gorges of the Rio Casaletto and the Bussento River.
Lentiscelle – Porto degli Infreschi Trail
Leaving the Apennine slopes behind, this 5-kilometre coastal walk runs right alongside the sea.
You’ll walk along beaches admired all over the world, with the privilege of spotting dramatic cliffs and the stunning Baia degli Infreschi along the way.
In the Footsteps of Aeneas
A journey in search of Aeneas, through white beaches and rocky coastlines.
This trail is part of the Aeneas Route, following the legendary path taken by the Trojan hero during his escape from Troy. One could say he couldn’t have chosen a more beautiful route.
Guardia del Cilento Trail
A perfect walk for history lovers.
From San Severino di Centola to Roccagloriosa, this 3-kilometre trail is steeped in a glorious past — from the San Severino Castle and the baronial palace to the Lucanian tombs of Roccagloriosa.
This is just a glimpse of the Cilento’s extraordinary historical, artistic and natural heritage.
At Baia del Silenzio, we offer everything trekkers and hiking enthusiasts might need. Over the years, we’ve placed increasing emphasis on this side of the experience.
Our offer goes beyond the activities available within the resort itself, surrounding guests with an endless source of inspiration drawn directly from the land that hosts us.
